The paperbark tree still stands

The paperbark tree stands til this day,

Overlooking the playing children in the playground.

Remembering the days of dreams,

The Aboriginal children that played,

And the healing that the tree has made.

The paperbark tree has created homes,

And it has created medicine.

Yet people still chop down the living organism.

The paperbark tree, thrown in a factory,

Made for furniture, bedding and more.

They treated me better,

Only using me for what they needed,

The paperbark tree was not made for factories,

But made for nature.

Don’t chop them down,

They are a living being

Like you.

Living for many centuries,

The paperbark tree still stands,

to this day.
