The power of life

The power of life shows itself to us

In flowers growing through cracks in cement

And forests living through bushfires

But the power of life

Is not as strong as it was

Why should it be?

When all that is left is more.

More drought

More fires

More death - Why should the earth keep trying?

And yet it does.

The stars keep shining on

As if celebrating humankind's mistakes

And the animals keep living

As if for our enjoyment

So that we can gaze upon the world's beauty

And not worry

About what we are doing

To break it.
