The regent honeyeater

The honeyeater,
Dwindling by the day,
Your beauty shines from afar,
Your wings a blur against the azure sky,
Your whistling wings faster than the speed of light,
Small but powerful,
All other birds bow down to you,
And then the humans flew across the hills in their grimy beasts of metal,
Cutting down home after home,
Years of hard work,
Wasted.
