The Unseen Truth

So much beauty in our world, but it’s never recognised or seen.

Instead, us humans stare at videos on the screen.

Flowers bloom, canopies high,

Fish swimming, birds soaring in the sky.

Refreshing smells, cacophonous sounds,

So much beauty that surrounds.

But our Great Barrier Reef is fading fast;

There’s no way that it will possibly last.

Our once-clean air is diminishing.

Are we not fearing that our time on Earth is finishing?

Our world is collapsing, yet we sit by.

When we’re faced with this horrible actuality, we simply deny.

We don’t see the ugly truth.

We don’t realise that there is no future for the youth.

We still think that life is exactly as it was before,

When our world was perfect with pristine shores,

Clean oceans, clean air.

Open our minds, why are we so unaware?

But are we really oblivious of reality,

Or are we choosing to ignore this brutality?
