The Volcano

Magma rises from the core, erupts with an ash cloud,
Sending a dark plume miles around, before settling onto the ground.
Lava overflows from the top, seeping slowly to the ground,
Causing panic and terror in nearby towns.
Lava sets, turning to basalt, growing the enormous cone,
Before exploding again, and now it rests.
Slumbering for centuries the threat forgotten,
Then it unleashes a chaotic firestorm,
Glowing lava swallows the area, burning brightly.
People flee in terror, but the flow is faster,
It can’t be outrun,
History repeats like Pompeii.
Lightning flashes and thunder crashes to the ground,
Causing more destruction, taking innocent lives.
A wall of fire shoots into the air,
An impressive and frightening display,
Of earth’s mighty strength, that never withers throughout time.
