Trotting Down Memory Lane

A reminder of your love,
Love that’s stored in a cow toy,
Lingering memories in my mind,
The ones that you lost, and I gained,
Leaving me to be “the little girl in the water”.
It wasn’t just a day to you, was it?
You saw a reflection of yourself,
Watching me in the water,
It wasn’t me, but you as a child
The memories flowing into your mind like the waves on the beach.
This small cow, the nameless cow,
A bundle of yellow and purple,
Some see a giraffe, others comfort--
It’s the one thing keeping me together.
The pain of your passing hurts
But you suffered
The black dots, blurry vision,
Age had caught up to you,
You still loved us though,
Even if we were strangers from your past.
