My granddad's war medals are special to me
They are special to me because they don't just grow on a tree
He earned them during the war
And now I want to learn some more.

My granddad fought in the war
It was not just an open door
They battled on the front line
Risking their life every time.

He watched his friends die right next to him
And after that his life went dim
He kept on pushing through the war
He kept on fighting more and more.

When he came home
There was a great moan
He sat down and then thought
What he had fought.

He then said, "Protect these medals; they are special to me
They do not just grow on a tree"
That's why they're special to me.
