Wathawurrung land

What a beautiful place along the South Coast,
Wildlife thriving in the lush green trees,
An isolated paradise, not known by most,
Where the sand is smoothened by the light sea breeze.
Goim Ngungangs (kangaroos) grazed in the plains,
The Djirnap (cockatoos) squawked loudly as they fly
But the gumtree is where the Parrwang (magpie) remains,
As the sun sets, revealing the beautiful southern sky.
The calm, clear night is a wonderful sight,
As I lie in the soft grass looking up at the view,
As the twinkling stars shine so very bright,
An amazing man plays an amazing didgeridoo.
I listen, his ancestors grew where I stand,
I acknowledge the traditional owners,
As I stand on their beautiful, sacred land.
Wadawarrung people are the owners of this place.
So, thank you to them for accepting us to their birthplace.
