Weather and Survival

Its roots surged through the earth like silky snakes

The globe-like canopy swayed in the wind

Trees grow alongside rivers and lakes 

All the white flowers, to the tree were pinned

The burning flames licked the resistant bark

All the animals slowed in the safe, warm trees

The trees around the riverbark were stark

Blossoms provide food sources for bees

The tree was soaring in a graceful ark

Its branches climbed up in a natural sweep 

Dirt around the riverbark was like starch

In winter all of the leaves droop and weep

Greedy leaves curl towards the shining light

Snow makes the riverbark pearly and white
