When I’m at the beach

The sun beams,
Its smile blazes on the sand,
The cool water pulls me away and the ocean swallows me whole,
A maze of infinite blue,
Fractures of aquamarine light break through the darkness,
Shimmering like mermaid scales,
Waves crash over my head,
Frothy water horses galloping to shore,
Bubbles cling to my arms and legs,
The water is calm,
Slowly pulsing,
Back and forth,
Nature’s forever beating heart,
I walk along the shore,
Just an audience member in a sell-out show,
I wiggle my toes in the hot white sand,
My blue eyes gaze,
I get that feeling again,
When I'm at the beach.
