When the fire came

In the distance I see the red sky

It’s now as dark as a panther coat

All the animals running

No one stopping to help me

My leaves getting dry

Not far away fire licking from leaf to leaf

Now I’m engulfed in the inferno of flames

I’m

Getting

Dark

Many months have now gone by

I’m still dark but

Now I have a nice green coat

Made of new life
