Winding Around

Winding around and around
I cover a large area
Sometimes calm,
And sometimes enraged
Fish call me their home
Along with Crocodiles, Frogs, and Beavers
But after the humans came,
All I’ve been is polluted and dirty
Filled with plastic water bottles, biscuit packets, and a rubber ducky too
I pair with the weather
When it’s calm, I’m calm
When it’s fierce, I’m fierce
I can carry things miles and miles away
Sometimes I connect to the ocean, my big brother
I really do break hearts and cause tears like lakes
I am a river
Winding around and around and around…
