I pace around the aquarium

children laugh and giggle at the sight,

furiously tapping the glass with grubby hands.

Families with big bulky cameras,

I admire fish as colourful as confetti.

Ominous blue water reflects onto my face.

A dark shadow submerges me,

A cacophony of banging on glass,

the intense clicking of cameras.

My eyes are drawn to a magnificent ton of blubber.

The whale slowly glides across the water

my eyes gaze at the ethereal creature,

inspecting every wrinkle in its big blue mass.

Feel time freeze as I walk towards the magical beast.

The chatter and flashes come to a pause.

“Set me free of this jail, return us to our true,”

its voice booms across the room.

“I will,” I whisper. Then time resumes.
